You get what you need

Manakamana start

Worksite view on my first dayI got into the project here in Nepal waaay back on Nov 4th. 6 day work weeks since has been tough. Digging dirt, busting rocks, hauling rocks, moving bricks, digging holes, mixing concrete, passing cement and generally breaking backs. I submitted my request to stay through the New Year a couple of weeks ago. Last week I got confirmation that there wasn’t any spaces left on the project. Too many do gooders out in the world these days.

It is just as well, to be honest, I am kind of happy about it. I am sore all over, in a good way. But I don’t think I would hold up for another month of hard labor.

Manakamana finish

Same spot on my final day

The daily diet of lentils, rice and potatoes has taken its toll on my energy level. It has helped that I have risen through the ranks to become a team lead of the back fill and compaction team. No reason other than other than volunteer attrition since I have been here. Being team leads means I can walk around “inspecting” “things” when i am tired. Been inspecting a lot this past week.

Nothing a big old cheeseburger wont cure. As I will be amongst the Hindus for the foreseeable future, I’ll have to settle for a chickenburger for a while.

More coming, just not sure from where.
