It finally got here. 18 years and 1 month after I arrived I Seattle, I finally got my act together and left Seattle today.
Took about 6 months of planning and preparation but it went quickly, with these past few weeks a blur of dump runs, house projects, trailer preparation, dump/Goodwill runs, penny on the dollar sales and finishing touches/repairs on my home built teardrop trailer
I quit my job at Microsoft’s XBox division at the end of May and it has been a daily grind since to finish up (or cover up) the projects that have been languishing for years. With the help of a good stager, the house has never looked better. Hopefully, profits from selling my house in the lava hot Seattle Real Estate market will support me until I figure out what’s next.
House is up for sale on Saturday with the hopes hopes of a quick closing so I can ditch the bounds of constant availability.
I am writing this from the Yakima Sportsman’s State Park. A pricey $40 a night for a full hookup site. I was thinking I would have a nice luxurious night of freedom but instead I am sitting in the car drinking warmish beer because it is raining outside.

Good Luck Don. Glad we got the dubious honor of seeing you on your FIRST day in Seattle and then again on your LAST day. Safe travels…keep posting..we live vicariously through you.
Hey Don,
Congratulations, should be a fun new adventure!!
While you are in the neighborhood, check out Owen Roe winery in Wapato (a few miles south of Yakima).
And, if you head down to Portland, we can assure you that our beer is cold and our driveway offers FREE parking. You’re always welcome to visit. 🙂
Cheers,
Craig & Sarah
